The Ontario Child Health SUPPORT Unit (OCHSU) will provide a world-class research infrastructure to optimize child health outcomes by enhancing the efficiency, methodological quality, and standards of child health clinical research across Ontario. The Unit will promote the translation of clinical research into practice and policy and will identify health system changes to enable the delivery of cost effective and safe healthcare.
Research solutions for common and complex child health conditions require a coordinated and integrated clinical research infrastructure across pediatric academic health centers in Ontario. OCHSU will provide innovative and efficient clinical research supports and services to reduce "research waste" at the research design and conduct level and will support implementation and translation of research findings into practice and policy. OCHSU will also lead in the development of novel research methods and will set standards for child health research. The unit will seek collaboration with relevant partners to ensure synergies in research activities and effective training of the next generation of child health clinical researchers.
